The Endless Mountains Riders in Sayre Pa held a successful 11th Annual Gumball Ride and Poker Run on Saturday, July 20, 2024. They raised almost $500 worth of cash and supplies for the two local animal shelters – Stray Haven Animal Shelter in Waverly, NY and Bradford County Humane Society in Ulster, PA.
Four chapters of the national Wing’d Rider association attended the event from all around the state of Pennsylvania. Complimentary coffee and baked goods were offered at the starting line in front of the Comfort Inn in Sayre. Riders then took a set of directions that led them on a 67-mile ride up through Little Meadows in New York and back down through Camptown and Rome, PA. Along the way they made two stops to collect gumballs and poker cards. They ended up at the Athens Fire Hall where their scores, based on colors of their gumballs and their poker hands, were tallied.
Endless Mountains Riders member John Nutting was the first place winner in the Gumball Ride. Second place went to Cumberland Valley Riders member John Leib. And last place was given to Endless Mountains Riders member Don Roberts. The first place prize in the Poker Run was given to Keystone Wings member Gerry Kerkeslager. Additional gift certificates and prizes were given out to the remaining Poker Ride participants. We want to thank the many local businesses who contributed prizes to this event. Their names are all listed on our website at http://www.endlessmountainsriders.org.
Following a picnic dinner, riders mounted their bikes for a long ride home – some had driven four hours to attend the event.
The 2024 Gumball first place went to our own John Nutting. Second place went to John Leib of Cumberland Valley and last place to our own Don Roberts.
